Faith. What is it that makes it work? I will attempt a laymen"s explanation as simply as possible. Scripture is the way to launch it. The heart must be willing to apply it. It is what the scientists cannot see; however, it holds the cosmos together. Where did it come from? God"s inner being. Simply, He had faith within Himself to begin the Universe and all that is within it. Because He modeled faith, you may do within your own world the same things. Faith SPEAKS; circumstances move or come into existence by your words.
Quote; The Message; Hebrews 11. The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It"s our handle on what we can"t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.
By faith, we see the world called into existence by God"s word, what we see created by what we don"t see. By faith; Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn"t see, and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God.
By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God"s call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home. When he left he had no idea where he was going. By an act of faith he lived in the country promised him, lived as a stranger camping in tents, Isaac and Jacob did the same, living under the same promise. Abraham did it by keeping his eye on an unseen city with real, eternal foundations; the city designed by and built by God.
Job the Middle Eastern man who had been severely struck by Satan is counseled by a friend and he states: Quote Job 22:28, You shall declare a thing and it will be established for you.
So, we see God spoke the world"s into existence, then we can assume that if we share the life of God through His Son Jesus we may speak to the things of our private world and by faith, change them.
Let us look at one"s man cry of faith in the 911 towers as the plane approached his office.
This is quoted from the CBN webpage 10/2001:
Since the recent attacks on America, we've heard all kinds of stories of kindness, of sacrifice, of heroism. Today we have a story about the miraculous power of prayer. Producer German Woodbin shares Stanley Praimnath’s story about the role prayer played in his rescue from under the very wing of one of the planes lodged in the towers.
Stanley: It"s an experience I relive in my mind over and over, and I can tell you, I went to hell and came back all in one piece.
Gorman: Stanley says his day started out like any other normal business day.
He works as a loan officer for the Fuji Bank in New York City. His office was located on the 81st floor of Tower 2 of the World Trade Center. While on the phone, he looked out the window and saw something that he"ll never forget.
Stanley: I was looking towards the Statue of Liberty and in mid-sentence, I said, I have got to go. A plane is aiming for me. That"s all I said. I dropped the phone, and I jumped towards my desk, which was 6 or 7 feet away.
I said, Lord, I can"t do this. You take over. And I went into the fetal position. I just huddled under my desk and prayed and cried.
Just before I jumped there, I saw this plane eyeball-to-eyeball. It was like the biggest thing I"ve ever seen coming towards me. But it was happening in slow motion, giving me enough time to jump under my desk.
Later on, when I watched TV, I saw the plane swerve, that little turn that it made, whatever reason it did that for. I was able to rationalize that I said what I did when I prayed that prayer. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that my Lord"s giant hand pushed this plane a fraction of an inch.
Gorman: He made it through the crash, but the wing of the plane was blocking his only means of escape.
Stanley: This plane was at an angle and the wing hung in my office door 20 feet away.
I cried, I prayed, and the entire ceiling came down. The furniture was mangled. The tables, the computers, the walls, the ceiling, everything came down.
And I prayed, saying, Lord, send somebody, anybody. And out of this smoke I saw the light. It was a flashlight somebody had.
I said, Lord, just this one time more. If you give me the strength, I"ll be able to do it.
I stood up, and I felt so powerful that I could have done anything. When Samson got up and shook off his enemies, that"s how I felt. And I said, This wall is no match for me.
I started clawing my way, climbing, climbing, punching, and hitting until the man on the other side saw my hand and my head. And he said, I can see your hand. I said, As soon as you can see my head and hand, you just grab and yank me through.
Brian Clark, afterwards I got to know his name, he grabbed my hand and my head and he pulled with all his strength, and I squirmed my way through to this opening.
Gorman: Stanley and Brian miraculously made it down to the lobby, but the entire concourse was engulfed in flames.
Stanley: When I was out in the lobby, the building was surrounded by fire. All the debris that fell from the building was burning. But all the people you could have seen were the EMS workers, firefighters and the cops, cheering us along, Run, run out of the building, go, go, go.
We ran out of that building arm-in-arm. I was dragging him and he was dragging me. And we were looking up at the fiery debris falling all over, broken glass.
We ran towards Broadway, and as soon as we got to the Trinity Church, we held on to the gate and looked back towards the building. It was as if my good Lord was holding up the building in the palm of his hands until we got to safety. And the building came tumbling down.
Gorman: Later that morning, Stanley called his wife. She had seen the news coverage and felt certain her husband was dead.
Stanley: I called her. I said, This is Stan. She said, Please don"t do this to me. Why are you doing this to me? I said, No, it"s me, Stan. She said, Please, don"t do this. This is not Stan.
And I"m crying like a baby. I said, No, it"s me. All is well. I"m fine. My good Lord took care of me. I"m coming home to you and my two girls. She said, Stan, is this really you? I said, Yes, yes, i"'s me. Praise the Lord.
Gorman: In looking back over his horrific ordeal, Stanley feels God truly protected his life.
Stanley: Three miracles, one day. To me, a sinner like me, sir. I asked the Lord to take over. I couldn"t do this. He pushed that plane away from me. I asked Him to send somebody, anybody, to help me, and He sent Brian Clark to help me. And He knew I had to get to safety before He let go of the building. And as soon as I held on to His house, the church gate, the building collapsed because He's still doing miracles in people's lives today. End of CBN quote
